I was about to type some “how to” technical need into google and these must be the top how to’s…  Noteworthy:  #3 — “how to get pregnant”; #2 — “how to kiss”; most important #8 “how to solve a rubix cube”

Returning to Tumblr

Hello Tumblr, I am back after over two months of shying aware from your many treats.  I just have found it nauseating to be at a computer after the many hours I spend on career related activities.  I return today after reading an article listing many things that one should maintain to avoid the job search depression.

http://www.jibberjobber.com/blog/2009/04/28/dealing-with-job-search-depression/

Anyways, writing daily was listed, so what better time than now to return to Tumblr?  I would say 95% of my writing has been correspondence emails with recruiters or modifying resumes/cover letters which can be rather draining.  The other 5% has been meaningless communications on Facebook of which I getting to really despise.

Well as an update, I am on official day 60 of my 60 day notice of release from “The Company.”  (no Heroes pun intended)  So officially, I will go about applying for unemployement tomorrow and live a life of poverty for a while.  I’ve already learned to adapt to this by enjoying the multitude of sports that are on, working out, and of course my several hours of day on job hunts.  I also have now found more fun in the less expensive weeknights such as Wednesday nights drinking .25 beers at Stadium Club.

With Day 1 of an new chapter in my life tomorrow, what better way to spend it that going to Arlington Racetrack for opening day!?!?  Maybe I’ll get lucky with some long shot super ultra boxed complexed trifecta.  I hope its obvious I know little about horse racing.  Wish me luck.  I’ll be in touch Tumblr.

Oh, another decision, where does rooster go now?  Roosters last home was on the Jake’s cube shelf during his era, then he migrated to my shelf the day after his departure.  Where shall he go, where is the rest of my trickets I don’t need go?
P.S. Ignore the caption, it was for a video promoting what we like about our company a year ago!  Ironic, right.

End of my allstate era?

Well I received a call from an unfamiliar number.  The call directed me to go two floors up for a conversation with HR and my director.  I have found out that I am one of the jobs to be let go as part of the “Focus to Win” 2-year initiative.  I guess I’m not part of the winning.  My last required day is tomorrow and will be employed for 60 days + a bit of severence pay.

This did not come totally a shock to me.  Although receiving high performance reviews even as my current role as a data analyst (modeler), I was the newest one to my team with a little over a years time in the role.

Onto what now?  I do not know.  Will do some soul searching / job hunting / networking / etc.  I will probably actively start this next week.

Now if anyone has any opportunities, feel free to forward onto nicholas.filip@gmail.com; I’ll be preparing my resume early next week.  I have a multitude of IT analyst skills and a comfort level with “EVERYTHING NOW!” type of roles too.  (Mario knows!)
