Returning to Tumblr
Hello Tumblr, I am back after over two months of shying aware from your many treats.  I just have found it nauseating to be at a computer after the many hours I spend on career related activities.  I return today after reading an article listing many things that one should maintain to avoid the job search depression. http://www.jibberjobber.com/blog/2009/04/28/dealing-with-job-search-depression/ ...

End of my allstate era?
Well I received a call from an unfamiliar number.  The call directed me to go two floors up for a conversation with HR and my director.  I have found out that I am one of the jobs to be let go as part of the “Focus to Win” 2-year initiative.  I guess I’m not part of the winning.  My last required day is tomorrow and will be employed for 60 days + a bit of severence pay. This did...

Last morning of 2008
So I wake up today early and go to the gym before work.  I got a good work out in and exchanged some smiles and a few words with a cute girl there.  So at this point I am now feeling pretty great.  (Almost Nutrigrain bar “I feel great!”)  I go in to the office and hardly anyone is around, which is awesome! (so now at this point I do “feel great!”)  What better of a day can...

Isolation & quarantine...continues
Well I am looking back at my weekend now and am realizing I have not left my house since Friday night.  It is now Monday @ noon.  Yes, I’ve been a bit sick, fighting a flu/cold but still, I am on Day 3!  This fact is rather sad, 2 whole days & nights of NOTHING, only video games, movies, and sports.  Today, I am working from home for a 1/2 day and will continue the trend. I hate being...

Anxious feeling of soon to come accomplishment
So I have been in my role as a data analyst/architect for nearly 11 months now.  In my year in the role, my workload has varied and the type of work has varied as well.  Several of my projects were put on hold, cancelled, delayed, or ended up needing much less work from me than expected.  However, today’s is a different story. Today is the day for a project whose deployment is mandated by a...

Word amongst the bargain hunter community is that there will not be a widespread phenomenal deal here since CC is outsourcing their liquidation.  This may have similiar results as the Comp-USA closings.  No deals to be found — better off with NewEgg or TigerDirect.

Cubs
Now how salty would Cubs fans be if Milwaukee overcomes Philly the next 2 games as well as the Chi Sox finding a way to win the next three games against TB? I truly due feel sympathetic for the Cubs and their fans.  They had a hell of a season and didn’t deserve a sweep in the NL.  I for one was raised in a Cubs family and my grandpa (age ~75) watches the Cubs almost religiously in hopes...

Wildcard
So my team at work has a weekly “forum” to discuss any topics within the team with purpose of learning, sharing ideas, or hashing out differences of work related opinions.  Each week, the organizer sits in the same seat as do all of the other 6-7 attendees.  However each week over the last 6 months, I sit somewhere completely different to throw it off and see how the others adapt.  So...

aig - interest rate
Mr. Ed Liddy “is critical of the interest rates the government is charging AIG,” according to a Wall Street Journal interview. Well, the government gave them $85 BILLION dollars at an interest rate of over 11% due in 24 months.  Interest alone turns to over 1.2 Billion.  ($1,200,000,000) The shear amount of zeros in that number just disgusts me.

My results leaned to McCain 7/13.  The statements were sometimes rather difficult to choose between.  I reviewed my choices and I could easily identify a few that I would flip flop.  Some of which were Obama’s in which seemed a bit far fetched - unachievable in one term as president. They should really make these candidates use the SMART technique.  (Specific, Measurable, Acheivable,...

Ok, maybe I was wrong about the LHC.
Another potential scenario, possibly as likely as Godzilla.  Now say, something terrible goes wrong; theoretical physics is thrown right out the window and this thing somehow throws off the earth’s rotation, or better yet its orbit around the sun.  Alternate ending: earth drifts off into space, and we all go buy space heaters and winter coats today….then Godzilla attacks ...

I almost called in sick today.
I hear ya.  I also saw chainsaws laying around.  How great would that be… mariodonini: Driving to work this morning, I passed a tree-clearing operation on the corner of Milwaukee and River road. There was a harvester (think big crane-type machine with a gigantic spinning saw on the end), a grapple-skidder, and a loader putting the massive trees into a huge chipper. I could have stayed there...

Catching up on some blogs and this one took me.  I just realized how disgustingly true this is. mariodonini: Via Erik. Full disclosure: I had an Apple sticker on my Acura for a few years, but I peeled it off a...

that moment in a new vehicle owners life
So I’ve already come to that point in my life as a new vehicle owner where I want to cry.  Today I decided to back into my parking spot in the garage at work.  Carefully watching my passenger side not to make contact with the crookedly parked vehicle next to me I neglected to see the cement pylon that perfectly graced along the side rear panel of the truck.  Yes, I messed up the paint pretty...

NIU Shooting
Although no longer a student at NIU, the tragedy yesterday has stricken very near to me today like many. My thoughts yesterday were to be sure my sister Stacey and her fiance, Angel out at NIU are ok. Angel of course would have been in the vicinity during the time of the shooting but due to having no ride to class and probably sheer laziness, he skipped classes yesterday. Now today, after a night...

Ok it is well after 830 am by the time I arrived into the office.  Let me state first that I live roughly under 10 miles away from work in the near area.  You think that living 2 towns over should not be an issue but today has set me off.  Over 45 mins to get 10 miles on a sunny day and the roads are in moderate condition after the snow.  Things to set me off: car accident right outside of my...
